Game 2 – Pitch Me Baby One More Time
April 19th is the 30th anniversary of the Metal Slug series of video games, and for those who don’t know, Metal Slug was basically the Neo Geo’s answer to Contra. It basically took the side-scrolling run-and-gun gameplay, toned the seriousness WAY down – not that Contra was an uberserious indictment about the glorification of war – but it really made things much more cartoony, and it wound up being one of SNK’s most popular series, with a ton of sequels and spinoffs since then.
So my question to you is, what would you take and reinvent to make it more light-hearted and comical? What games, genre, movie, TV series, or books are just too serious for their own good, and would benefit from being more zany and cartoony? Best pitch wins and earns two episode points.
